Before the 24th of January 2009, certain preliminary competitions in Miss America 2009 were held by groups. The 52 Young ladies were divided into three groups, namely: MU Group, Alpha Group and Sigma Group. Miss America 2009 preliminary contest and awarding ceremonies were done for three separate days with three different groups of competitors. These part of the beauty pageant features the following competitions:

  • Lifestyle and Fitness (Swimsuit Competition)
  • Talent Competition
  • On Stage Question

The three groups of these promising young ladies had their own schedules for interview, swimwear presentation, talent competition and on stage question. The preliminary on stage question and answer served as the basis in choosing top 15. At the announcement of the night’s awards, the beauty contestants get to wear their an evening wear for the event. Here are the Miss America 2009 winners of the preliminary competition with their images/photos/images.

Winners for the first night:

  • Talent – Miss Delaware, Galen Giaccone
  • Lifestyle and Fitness – Miss Indiana, Katie Stam

Winners for the second night:

  • Talent – Miss Georgia, Chasity Hardman
  • Lifestyle and Fitness – Miss Mississippi, Christine Kozlowski

Winners for the second night:

  • Lifestyle and Fitness – Miss New York, Leigh-Taylor Smith
  • Talent – Miss Vermont, Ashley Wheeler
  • Quality of Life – Miss Kentucky, Emily Cox
