I’ve seen this today on TV (The Buzz) the news about Joey De Leon and Willie Revillame’s reconciliation during the Supremo awards where he received the first-ever Supremo awards which is given by the Philippine Star to accomplished TV personalities. The event was named “Supreme to the Extreme Awards”.
Joey De Leon has been in Philippine showbiz for more than 30 years serving in different capacities as actor, talk show host, radio announcer and many more. He got the highest honor for his contributions to the Philippine showbiz industry for more than 3 decades. Willie Revillame, on the other hand, won the Televisionary Award.
When Willie Revillame received his award, he gladly shared it with Joy De Leon and the two hugged, kissed and made up after several months of mud-slinging on air in their respective TV shows (Eat Bulaga for Joey De Leon in GMA-7 and Wowowee for Willie Revillame in ABS-CBN). According to the two gentlemen, the countless incidents they have thrown not-so-friendly remarks against each other in the past were just part of spicing things up. Joy even said, “it was all for the ratings” while Willie humbled himself in Wowowee stating that he has so much respect for an “institution” like Joey De Leon.
I saw that the two comedians are serious about their reconciliation. Willie and Joey did say something nice to each other in their respective shows after the awards night. This goes to show that the world of showbusiness is really a place where nothing is permanent. I just hope the friendship between the two guys will last for a very long time.
