There is a new way to campaign for an office in the Philippines - E-campaign (electronic campaign, if I may say). This is because presidentiables and senatoriables have joined cyberspace (by way of social networks like Friendster and Facebook and of course, blogging) as a means to campaign for their target positions in the 2010 Presidential Election.

News has it that the cost of a text/txt/SMS message sent was reduced to 50 centavos from the original one peso rate. This was included in the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of Philippine President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo (GMA) yesterday to the delight of Filipinos addicted to texting.
Cell phone addiction in the Philippines is severe. Even six-year old kids know how to send and receive text/txt/SMS messages here.

Roxanne Guinoo is the covergirl of Maxim Philippine’s July 2008 edition. Well, it’s about time time beautiful young actress graces men’s magazines after undergoing breast enhancement procedures. I suspect she’s in line for the cover of FHM Philippines in the near future. This is just a speculation (which is not far from happening if we will base things on her career moves).
Roxanne Guinoo has changed her image from a girl-next-door to a sultry and seductive sex symbol(?). She must have realized that here career will go nowhere if she continues with her original packaging as a showbiz personality. Showing some skin was perhaps her bold move to get more noticed (which is serving her well actually).

The lone winner of the Megalotto jackpot prize of more than 140.7 million Philippine Pesos (PhP) is still unidentified by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) up to this time for his/her own protection. The winning combination was 45-08-24-26-15-38.
Well, of course, it’s not really easy to tell the whole world you won that big. As a Lotto bettor myself, this is a dream come true for the winner. He/she was perhaps excited to win one of the biggest prizes in the history of Philippine Lottery.

Don’t be shocked with the number of out-of-school youths in the Philippines. This does not mean total enrollments are dropping. In fact, enrollments have been increasing by an average of 0.98 percent every year, data from the education department’s research and statistics division shows.
Likewise, to some extent, the drop can be explained by changes in the way the education department computes participation rates.

If in case you are a TV viewer of ABS-CBn and you’ve seen “Bandila”, I know you know Ces Drilon, the short-haired news anchor who covered a story in Sulu, Philippines recently. Ces Drilon was kidnapped along with her crew. ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. on Tuesday confirmed reports that its reporter Cecilia Victoria “Ces” Oreña-Drilon and two cameramen went missing in the province of Sulu.
“Three ABS-CBN journalists Ces Drilon, Jimmy Encarnacion, and Angelo Valderama are missing in Sulu,” an ABS-CBN statement released Tuesday morning said.

“All efforts are underway to find them and bring them home. Until we learn more details, ABS-CBN News requests other media to report on this matter with utmost consideration for the safety of our news team,” it added.
Earlier reports said Drilon and her crew were with university professor Octavio Dinampo when armed men seized them in the village of Kulasi in the town of Maimbung.
“We received reports that the four were abducted by the Abu Sayyaf led by Albader Parad,” Supt. Julasirim Kasim, Sulu’s provincial police chief, said.
