This is a follow-up to my previous article titled “Miss Earth 2008 Winners: Miss Philippines Earth Karla Paula Henry Wins Title“. Let’s call this brief post as Ms. Earth 2008 update.

The recently concluded Ms. Earth 2008 stirred so much buzz in the blogosphere and outside it. Ms. Earth 2008 winners include the following:

1. Ms. Tanzania, Miriam Odemba was Ms. Earth Air (1st runner-up)
2. Ms. Mexico, Abigail Elizalde was Ms. Earth Water (2nd runner-up)
3. Ms. Brazil Tatiane Alves won Ms. Earth Fire (3rd runner-up) 

Congratulations to all the Ms. Earth 2008 winners especially to Ms. Earth Philippines 2008, Ms. Karla Paula Henry, who bagged the grand title Ms. Earth 2008. Karla Paula Henry really deserves the victory in my view. She’s talented, beautiful and very intelligent. She deserves all the glory of the victory.

Miss Earth 2008 winner Karla Paula Henry of the Philippines

Karla Paula Henry (Miss Philippines Earth 2008) won the Miss Earth 2008 Beauty Pageant last night. Karla Paula Henry won the Miss Philippines Earth 2008 in May this year and competed against the world’s most beautiful women. Other Miss Earth 2008 final 8 were: Spain, Brazil, Tanzania, Philippines, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico and Switzerland. 

Winners of the Miss Earth 2008 special awards were: Miss Photogenic - Karla Paula Henry (Miss Philippines Earth 2008); Best in National Costume - Shassia Ubillús (Ms Panama); Best in Swimsuit - Ms Mexico. Best in Long Gown - Daniela Torrealba (Miss Venezuela). Best in Talent - Ms Australia; and Miss Friendship - Andrea Carolina León (Miss Ecuador).

Janina San Miguel Backs Out of the Miss World Beauty Contest

Bb. Pilipinas-World winner Janina San Miguel resigned as the country’s Bb. Pilipinas-World title holder. This means that Janina San Miguel will not be competing in the Miss World contest. Danielle Castaño will replace Janina San Miguel as the official Philippine representative, reports indicate.

In case you did not know, Janina San Miguel became an instant celebrity via a controversial win of the Binibining Pilipinas-World title this year. Many Filipinos here and abroad got mad the Bb. Pilipinas organizers because of Janina San Miguel’s victory of the Bb. Pilipinas-World title.

Moreover, GMA News stated that

Beauty queen Janina San Miguel has resigned as the country’s official representative to the 2008 Miss World beauty pageant.

A statement from the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) said San Miguel cited as reason for her decision the recent death of his grandfather.

“The untimely demise of her grandfather, among other personal reasons, has caused her undue stress, thus hindering her from fulfilling her duties for the said title,” the BPCI statement read.
