Gerry Peñalosa won over a Knockout (KO) against Thai boxer Vorapin in the recently concluded Invasion: Philippines vs. World boxing event. Gerry Peñalosa showed everyone that being age 35 doesn’t mean retiring for good as he demonstrated excellent tactics, good hand speed and very strong punches against his opponent. This is Gerry Peñalosa’ first title defense of the WBO Bantamweight belt.
After the fight Peñalosa said he wants to face Ponce De Leon of Mexico for a rematch. He lost against the Mexican in 2007 for the world title in a controversial decision.
Gerry Pañalosa and Manny Pacquiao are best of friends and Manny showed everyone his full support to his best friend by being there for him all throughout the fight and long before that period. Manny Pacquaio also promised to train with Gerry Peñalosa if he will face once again Ponce De Leon in the future.
Other winners via KO in the event are Aj “Bazooka” Banal and Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista. The Filipino boxers showed some great boxing today as they all prevailed, without question, against strong opponents in the ring.
