The National Telecommunications Commission of the Philippines alerted the public of text messaging scams like the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office or PCSO Text Scam. These text scams use legitimate non-government organizations such as foundations, agencies or even form a dummy company or agency. One of those non-existing agencies that victimized many cell phone users is the Philippine Charity Foundation (PCF) Text Scam. Scam artists even use genuine groups like the GMA Kapuso Foundation and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to scam people via Text Messaging or SMS.

We personally received another text scam using the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) from mobile phone number +639204827074. Here is the PCSO Text Scam (with grammar and spellings) preserved:

“Should you wish to get first hand information about PCSO ‘MAAGANG PAMASKO’ LOTTO DRAWS, and Daily Christmas Winning # Combination, on the most probable #. to be drawn based on statistics. Hurry, be a member now… Dial #09084099618 and ask MR. ARIEL DE OCAMPO, PCSO HEAD DRAW COORDINATOR. Call now!!!”

Caution to the public! According to the Philippines’ National Telecommunications Commission or NTC, lawful promo text messages are for free when giving primary information. Legitimate mobile phone promos come from 3-4 digit numbers only and not from regular mobile phone numbers. So, be warned. Don’t be a victim of text message scams. Learn how to spot cell phone scams. If the text message ever involves money, ignore the text message. Also, the PCSO Text Scam is an active plot to entice people to send money to the alleged operators. There is no such thing as a PCSO text promo so inform your friends and loved ones about this.

    Sassy Reporter,

That’s true. The PCSO text scam is one example of an untrustworthy raket. Sa cell phones sila nagooperate dahil hindi nate-trace tapos gumagamit sila ng unlimited text dahil wala silang mga pera. Hahaha!
