Scams with the greed to make money through fraud take advantage of people searching for jobs over the internet. They introduce themselves as employers looking for a babysitter or a household assistant. They sound legitimate at first because they present themselves by giving a short background about their family, kids and occupation. Then these nanny employment scams will offer a good salary with not that hard work. Some even say they’ll provide you a car for your convenience and accessibility in case you’re not staying in the house with them. At the end, the employment scam artist will ask you cash for your travel documents or processing fee. They’ll entice you to spend cash and leave you with nothing.

Direct hiring is common nowadays so here are tips to avoid being a victim of nanny employment scams.

  • To be sure of the genuineness of the employment agency, look for your local government accreditation.
  • For those under name-hiring or direct-hiring, validate the existence of the employer. Direct hiring employers must still ask permission to the government employment administration of the applicant’s country.
  • Applicants must not pay anything until the employment contract has been approved.
  • Travel tickets or expenses must be shouldered by the employer.
  • All the applicant must do is to comply with the required documents, have a complete medical examination, and prepare a passport for those applying abroad.
