There are many job opportunities for Pinoys in Europe despite the fact that the world is presently in crisis and finding good employment is difficult. Filipino online jobseekers highly consider employment in Canada or UK either as nanny, caregivers or nurses because reports about the good salary and working conditions in those places are enticing. As a friendly advice to all online jobseekers, beware of online employment scams.
Workers try searching jobs online and stumble upon job-hiring websites. Several websites are exclusively serving for the search of a nanny or a babysitter and matching them with available employers. Here enters the internet nanny employment scams pretending to be genuine employers. Most often, the website only serves as a third party connecting the applicant and prospective employer. Most of these job matching websites are unaware of the transactions between the two parties. The employment process is a private conversation between employer and applicant. Only a few legitimate nanny or babysitter employment agencies filter or validate the legitimacy of registered employers by tracing IP addresses.
Recently at the news, an applicant was offered 1200 UK pounds a month for baby sitting 8 hours a day. The job proposal was overwhelming that the applicant almost gave in. The alleged employer or nanny employment scam artist sends e-mails and even calls the applicant to pursue a conversation. In the employment transaction, the applicant was asked to give details and start accomplishing requirements. After the applicant passed at the global travel international, the alleged employer asked 1000 UK pounds for her travel documents. The pretending employer tried enticing the applicant by saying that their family will handle 70% and that the applying nanny must only pay 30%. The employment contract has not been approved, yet the employer (scam artist) is already asking for cash. As fishy as it was, the applicant investigates if the employment agency is legitimate. Suspicion is confirmed as the applicant finds out that the alleged employment agency and employer’s address does not exist. It was indeed an internet employment scam.

[...] Internet Nanny Employment Scams Take Advantage of Online Jobseekers [...]
February 26th, 2009 at 1:36 am
Hello,
I have been very watchful of internet job scams. But I fell short and became a victim of Katy Flyer of Katy, Texas. I responded to one of their online, classified postings for ad flyer distributers.
They contracted me to complete 2000 flyers on Long Island, NY. After the work was done KF did not pay me. They did not reply back to my messages for an explanation for the delay. I later learned others nationwide were defrauded for their labors. I wrote an article about Katy Flyer of my experience with them on my blog site. Please get the word out before there are too many future victims, thank you much.
Sincerely,
Curtis

i flagged a message in skype that i am looking for employer anywhere in the world as a nanny or tutor. somebody named John Aristide (British) sent me a formal message that he is in need of a nanny to take care of his twins since his wife died recently. i expressed my intention to apply and then he directed me to a travel agency who would handle the processing of my non-settlement visa, work permit and security number. The travel agency is named Highlands Travel and Tour Consult based in London. The cost of the processing is 870 pounds. He told me to raise a reasonable amount which is 150 pounds and send it to the agency through western union since he could not pay the agency for the mean time because he is in an island for oil exploration. He told me that he will call the agency and appeal that it will just accept my payment and start for the processing of the documents.
Until now I did not send the money because i am afraid it is a scam. However every detail i asked from him he gave me such as pics of him and the kids, their address, home phone number, school address of the kids. He told me he will refund whatever amount i have spent and he will pay for my air ticket. the salary is too good to be true since he offers 500 pounds per week.
Please help me with this… i really need help. tnx

Hello,
Never believe to these online scammers. Firstly, why they would hire an unknown person 10000 miles away from london to take care of their kids? Be cautious why all of a sudden they contact you as if youre the only qualified person in the world to fit the nanny position. If they are real employer to take care of his family, then he should invest to pay the reliable agency to hire and background check the applicants. They are afterall looking for someone they can trust so means to say they should be careful in selection and hiring but.. why in the world they contact someone from a far away 3rd world country?
A real employer will not hire someone from a difficult country to process UK/Eur/US visa like the Philippines. A real employer prefers to contact nannies (if they prefer Filipino) who are already residing within UK. That point wont bother them paying migration papers, work permits as well as air fares.
I am always warning fellows not to be stupid once they meet offers like this online. There are millions of scammers nowadays online and we need to be vigilant in crushing these cheaters who are taking advantage the ignorance of poor and the many.

hi..just want to ask… someone also send me a job offers as a nanny in UK through mails… I was wondering why he send me that email since i was curious i sent him my reply..his name was Dr. John Klaus(employer). And to tell that the offers was really good… He also sent his family pictures..contact no..and addresses too..And after the confirmation that i was qualified as a nanny to his children, he send an employment contract to me signed by him and an attorney i guess..(the heading was Clayton Family Lawyers) and it had the job details… He didnt ask any amount yet from me since he told me that he will be the one to process the visa and i’ll be the one to process my working permit… As he said it will takes long to process here.. The visa will be process after I will sent him back the contract w/ complete information and he will refer me to an agent to make the processing easy… I almost believe in these but there is still a doubt..so i search in net about it…and i found this blog… I dont know if what happened to me is a scam or not…Anyone can answer this??…

just ask yourself one question, why this stranger who doesnt even know your background will headhunt you to look after his family? and of so many nannies residing in UK would still bother to give himself a headache to take you out from the philippines and work from him in the UK? mind you, this person wont even bother to spend a single cent to call you nor spend a penny to background check you.
its easy for them to give fake names, its so easy to send family pictures not belonging to them and its so easy to cheat desperate people. it only takes few emails and you found yourself hooked and imagining to taste the british life. wait and see and if you believe to that email, you found yourself to be one of weeping dreamers scammed online.
