News has it that the cost of a text/txt/SMS message sent was reduced to 50 centavos from the original one peso rate.  This was included in the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of Philippine President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo (GMA) yesterday to the delight of Filipinos addicted to texting.

Cell phone addiction in the Philippines is severe. Even six-year old kids know how to send and receive text/txt/SMS messages here.

The Associated Press (AP) reported that beer makers are turning to viral advertisements more and more these days due to the popularity and effectiveness of viral marketing and/or advertisement especially on the internet and television.

In ST. LOUIS, the AP claims that the Beer company Anheuser-Busch is generating lots of buzz with an ad equal parts bawdy and hilarious, but you won’t see it on television, and it barely mentions the beer it’s advertising.

GMA News website stated in one of their reports that a Biotech company based in Northern California offers to clone dogs.  After cloning sheeps, scientists prepare to clone dogs which according to some critics is just a preparation for human cloning.  Read the full article below:

The Philippines, being branded as the “Texting Capital of the World” might already be experiencing some of the negative effects of texting. This is evidenced by the poor academic performance of students especially in spelling. Texting and/or cellphone addiction can do so much damage to our country’s future. Our great passion for new cellphone models packed with new and better features (thanks Nokia, Samsung, Motorla, et al.) makes this craving for cellphone texting grow even more.
